Locate reaches out for a thing in the wide world, if you have learned the skill. Given a name, it tells you how many of it exist; given a number and a name, it tries to point you toward that one in particular. Syntax: > locate <item> > locate <number>.<item> Example: > locate lantern > locate 2.lantern The numbered form answers with the direction the track leads, not the distance, and you must find your own way there. A failed search tells you nothing at all. Some matches cannot be tracked, such as an item inside another container. Finding a matching name does not guarantee a direction.
